چکیده

We take an approach to specify and control implicitly dened n-dimensional free-form solid primitives using parametric functions of n variables. Outside of the domain, the parametric function value increases or decreases rapidly that is not suitable to design geometric objects. In this paper, we introduce a functional clipping operation which allows a free-form primitive to be treated as traditional implicit primitives in set-theoretic modelling based on R-functions. We also introduce an extended B ezier clipping operation for fast inverse mapping in the case of the changed domain. Examples of set-theoretic, o setting, hypertexturing and metamorphosis operations on free-form primitives are given. Tessellation of trimmed parametric patches is explained as an application of our new geometric modelling method.

Variable-Free Representation of Manifolds via Transfinite Blending with a Functional Language

In this paper a variable-free parametric representation of manifolds is discussed, using transfinite interpolation or approximation, i.e. function blending in some functional space. This is a powerful approach to generation of curves, surfaces and solids (and even higher dimensional manifolds) by blending lower dimensional vector-valued functions. Transfinite blending, e.g. used in Gordon-Coons...

Algebraic Representation of CSG Solids Built from Free-Form Primitives

A mathematical model for free-form solid modelling was presented in previous published works. The key aspects of this model are the decomposition of the volume occupied by the solid into non-disjoint cells, and the representation of the solid as an algebraic sum of these cells. Here we apply this scheme to represent CSG solids built by combining free-form solids in boolean operations. As a proo...

Efficient and accurate B-rep generation of low degree sculptured solids using exact arithmetic: I - representations

We present e cient representations and algorithms for exact boundary computation on low degree sculptured CSG solids using exact arithmetic. Most of the previous work using exact arithmetic has been restricted to polyhedral models. In this paper, we generalize it to higher order objects, whose boundaries are composed of rational parametric surfaces. We present the underlying representations nec...

New Geometric Continuity Solution of Parametric Surfaces

This paper presents a new approach to computation of geometric continuity for parametric bi-cubic patches, based on a simple mathematical reformulation which leads to simple additional conditions to be applied in the patching computation. The paper presents an Hermite formulation of a bicubic parametric patch, but reformulations can be made also for Bézier and B-Spline patches as well. The pres...

On geometric Lagrange interpolation by quadratic parametric patches

In the paper, the geometric Lagrange interpolation by quadratic parametric patches is considered. The freedom of parameterization is used to raise the number of interpolated points from the usual 6 up to 10, i.e., the number of points commonly interpolated by a cubic patch. At least asymptotically, the existence of a quadratic geometric interpolant is confirmed for data taken on a parametric su...
